Our classrooms
Students learn in two ways here. In the classroom, a teacher leads the lesson and every student takes part. With computers and online material, students go over hard topics again and find out more than the textbook gives.
Applications are open for Senior 1, Senior 5 and transfer students.
Where learning happens
The classroom is where students spend most of their school day. It is where they follow the national syllabus, learn each subject and build the study habits that UNEB exams need. We keep every classroom calm, orderly and respectful, so that every student can learn.
Computers and online material are used alongside the classroom, not instead of it. They help students revise, do research for assignments and learn computer skills they will need at university and at work.
Two ways of learning
What students and parents can expect.
In the classroom
O Level (Senior 1 to 4) and A Level (Senior 5 and 6).
- Lessons follow the national syllabus for each subject and class
- The register is taken and attendance is recorded
- Students answer questions, discuss and do practical work
- Notes, homework and reading are set and checked by subject teachers
- Tests and class work count towards the term report
With computers
Online learning that supports what is taught in class.
- Online lessons, videos and practice questions for O Level and A Level
- Internet research for assignments and projects
- Teachers of other subjects, not only Computer Studies, use slides and videos
- Students learn to use computers well and safely
- All computer use is supervised by a teacher
More about our classrooms
- 1Following the syllabusO Level classes follow the new lower secondary curriculum. A Level classes follow the UACE syllabus for each subject combination. Teachers plan and check their lessons against the syllabus so that it is fully covered before the exams.
- 2How classes are arrangedO Level students are grouped by class. A Level students are grouped by their subject combination, such as PCM or HEG. The register is taken and attendance is recorded.
- 3Tests and progressClass tests, assignments, practical work and end of term exams are part of every subject. Under the new O Level curriculum, the work students do in school counts towards their final UCE result. Parents see progress in the term report.
- 4Special roomsSome lessons happen outside the normal classroom: practicals in the science laboratories, computer lessons in the computer laboratory, and reading and revision in the school library.
- 1Online lessonsStudents use online lessons, videos and practice questions that match the O Level and A Level syllabus. These help most when a student needs to go over a topic again after class.
- 2ResearchStudents use the internet to find material for assignments and projects. Teachers show them how to search well and how to tell a good source from a poor one.
- 3In every subjectWhere it helps, teachers of any subject use slides, short videos and other computer tools in their lessons, so students build computer skills as they learn.
- 4Always supervisedStudents use computers in the computer laboratory or in set lesson times, with a teacher present. Computers are for learning, and the rules on their use are clear.
For parents: your child does not browse the internet freely at school. Computer time is planned, supervised and linked to what they are studying.
Be on time
Be in class before the lesson starts. Coming late without a reason disturbs everyone and is recorded.
Come ready
Bring your books, pens and any homework that is due. Without them you cannot learn well.
Behave well
Noise, rudeness and distracting others are not allowed. The classroom is protected for learning.
Take part
Follow the lesson, answer when asked, join in discussions and finish the work set in class.
Be honest
Do your own work. Copying and cheating in tests are serious offences.
Keep it clean
Look after your desk, the walls and the floor. Anyone who damages school property is held to account.
These rules are the same in every class, from a Senior 1 English lesson to a Senior 6 Physics lesson.
