Visitation day and MDD
Once a year in Term 2, parents visit the school and watch their children perform, all on the same day. We put the two together so that families who travel a long way only need to make one trip.
Applications are open for Senior 1, Senior 5 and transfer students.
Term 2
The exact date is shared with parents at the start of Term 2.
One day, two reasons to come
On visitation day, parents and guardians spend time with their children, meet the teachers, ask about progress and see where their child lives and learns. On the same day, the houses perform music, dance and drama in the school main hall in front of students and families.
Many parents travel to Kavule-Katende from Kampala, Masaka and further away. Asking them to come twice in one term would be too much, so we hold both on one full day.
"Parents go home knowing how their child is doing, and having watched them on stage. That is worth the journey."

What happens on the day
Visitation
- Meet the teachers: ask about marks, weak areas and how to help at home in the holidays
- See the school: the dormitories, dining hall and classrooms, with your child as your guide
- Bring supplies: food and personal items for your child. Food that goes bad quickly should be eaten the same day.
- Talk to the office: welfare, fees, discipline or records. Bring any question you have been saving.
MDD in the school main hall
- Inter-house festival: each house performs choir, cultural and modern dance, poetry and drama
- Months of work: houses have rehearsed through the term for this performance
- Parents watching: performing in front of their families is something students never forget
- Judged and scored: results are read out at the end, and points go to the house cup
