Welcome to St. Joseph of Nazareth High School. I am glad you are here.
Whether you are a parent thinking about this school for your child, a student getting ready to join us, or someone who has been part of our family for years, I want you to know that we take our work seriously. We prepare students for their exams, and we also help them grow into capable, honest young people who are ready to serve their families, their communities and their country.
Our theme is "Result-oriented, people-focused." It means we work for strong results while caring for the dignity, talents and well-being of every learner. When I walk through our classrooms in the morning, I see students at every stage. Some are finding things hard, some are doing very well, and most are somewhere in between, doing the daily work of learning. My job, and the job of every teacher and staff member, is to make sure each one gets the support and encouragement they need to move forward.
"Discipline is not something we force on students. We help them build it within themselves, because that is the kind that lasts."
The school was founded on Catholic values, and they still guide how we work. We believe in the dignity of every person and in the value of hard work. We believe that how you treat people when no one is watching says more about you than any exam result. You will see these values at assembly, in the classroom, in how we handle discipline and in how we celebrate success.
To parents and guardians
Thank you for trusting us with your child. We do not take that trust lightly. We will be honest with you, we will contact you when something is not going well, and we will celebrate with you when your child does well. Home and school must work together.
To our students
Use your time here well. Take your studies seriously, be honest, and look out for one another. When things get hard, and sometimes they will, do not give up. Some of the most important lessons you learn here will not come from a textbook.
Our success comes from working together: dedicated staff, supportive parents, disciplined students, our alumni and the wider community. I am proud of what our students and staff achieve each term, and I invite you to look around our website and join us on this journey.
