St. Joseph of Nazareth High School was founded in 2008 by the late Omulangira Dr. Paul Mawanda Kyabaggu, together with Mrs. Margaret Kyabaggu. The school is in Kavule-Katende, 16 miles along the Kampala to Masaka road in Mpigi District.
From the start they wanted to give young people good, faith-based secondary education, built on discipline, hard work and Catholic values.
He lived a life of discipline, humility, faith and service. Those values still shape the school today.
Dr. Kyabaggu was also the founder and chairman of Bukoola Chemical Industries Ltd. Even with his success in business, he stayed committed to education and to the community. He passed away on 20 September 2025 in India, and his legacy lives on in the school.
Why the school is named after St. Joseph
Dr. Kyabaggu was baptised at Nazareth Parish in Masaka Diocese and given the name Joseph. He was also inspired by his elder brother Joseph and by his mentor, Rev. Brother Joseph Kyeyune of the Bannakaroli Brothers. St. Joseph, the foster father of Jesus, was chosen as the school's patron. His humility, hard work and obedience are the values we teach every student.
